Interview with Albirda Briley, a nurse, about her experiences as a plant nurse at the Red River Army Depot in Texarkana, Arkansas during World War II and the postwar years. Briley discusses the hiring policies for African Americans, racial problems, industrial accidents and plant medical facilities, social activities, U.S. Congressman Wright Patman's role in her being hired, and the effects of the depot on Texarkana. The Appendix includes a photocopy of a letter to Albirda Briley dated June 13, 1963 [1 leaf] and a photocopy of Albirda Briley's grade cards from Texarkana College in Texarakana, Texas [1 leaf].
